Our First month at Jobsocks

Making a career change can be daunting, Especially when you are stepping into a new sector.

This has been the reality for both Lauren and Oskar for the past month. Both have joined us with previous experience of customer success but neither have worked within recruitment which is perfect for Jobsocks and our partners.

Let’s find out how they’ve got on…

How have you found your first month at Jobsocks?

(Lauren) I can't believe how quickly my first month has gone, I have really enjoyed it! When you start a new job, there is always a bit of worry or anxiety, but the team has made me feel really welcome and at ease. Everyone has been approachable, supportive, and patient with me and are happy to answer all my questions (there's been a lot of them).

(Oskar) I’ve really enjoyed my first month at Jobsocks, and I’m surprised just how fast the time has flown by. I’ve really enjoyed my time so far and the range of activities I have been involved in. Richard and Justin have both made the move as easy as they possibly could.

What have you learned so far?

(Lauren) So far, I have learned a lot about facades, before starting at Jobsocks I didn't know much about construction. I’ve also learned a huge amount about recruitment and how to utilise the tools we have to better help the talent we work with.

(Oskar) The main thing I have learned since starting is the structure of a construction site and the companies involved. Prior to this I had no knowledge of construction or facades but now I feel like I can talk about the subject with ease, though there’s still plenty more for me to learn.

What has been the most surprising part of the job?

(Lauren) I was most surprised about how quickly I picked up the role and how quickly I felt part of the team. I feel like I've been doing this for a really long time.

(Oskar) The most surprising thing for me was how quickly I have adjusted to the environment and become a part of the team.

What has been the most enjoyable aspect of the new role?

(Lauren) I have just really enjoyed my first month here, it's gone so quickly, and I think I've settled in well. There is always a nice atmosphere in the office, and I've learned a lot. I have also had some really nice conversations with candidates and it's lovely when I call them to congratulate them on getting the role they interviewed for.

(Oskar) For me the thing I have enjoyed most is the variety of work available for me, every day I’m speaking to people from different parts of the country, looking for different skillsets, creating posts for social media, and getting to be part of a real team. The office games are also very enjoyable.

Anything you dislike?

(Lauren) So far, nothing I dislike, but it can be disheartening when clients miss out on great candidates when they are slow to act or feedback. Especially when you take the time to pair the right candidate for the job and it could be a great fit but they miss out.

(Oskar) The only thing I dislike is having to wake up and commute into the office.

How do you see your future here?

(Lauren) I am so pleased with how far I've come in just 5 weeks and like to think I've made the right decision in changing my career with the right company. My main goal is to progress with the company.

(Oskar) This is something I can really see myself doing. I definitely think I have made the right decision for myself and can see a future filled with potential at Jobsocks.

A final word from me:

Lauren and Oskar have progressed so well in such a short period of time with Jobsocks. Neither join with recruitment experience, which is perfect for us and those we work with because they haven't picked up bad recruitment habits.

Jobsocks is centred around using tech and a new approach to make genuine connections before fees. Lauren and Oskar can focus on doing the right things for the right reasons from the start.

I’ve been really impressed with the effort and attitude, well done.

Here’s to a bright future!  - Rich
